Peeking though the Dark

Torley strikes back! Now with an enigmatic soundscape inspired from an emblematic television series of the 90s, Twin Peaks! And guess what? That series will soon make its reappearance on television again... Is it a mere coincidence? Could it be a shortcut in extradimensional space and time? Who knows?

You are in the woods, and you feel that mysterious presence again. The legend says that every spirit must pass through there on the way to perfection... As you are waiting, comes the rain.

Turn the Animation feature on. This will reveal the individual stems to you, in the most interesting ways.

  This website is utterly amazing.

I'm a big fan of ambient music, but I've never seen anything like this. A music and sound generator that I can tailor for my mood? It's very much appreciate; my ears are particularly thankful y'all created this. I enjoy 88 Keys as well.

Wow. Just wow. So cool, so satisfying, so sad, so happy, and it's only one sound!

Just... Just try to combine it with healing water or rain! It is so cool and so relaxing! And it's so... Sad and happy in one time!

I have never watched Twin Peaks. However, I find this mixes very well with both the Thunder and Rain generator and the Black Hole one. This setting helps me focus while writing while allowing space for some mild daydreaming. It mixes perfectly with the Thunder and Rain generator; I feel like I'm in a slow-paced film shot in black and white with a contemplative 90s soundtrack.

This is the perfect soundscape on a dark and misty November day.

Literally perfect for focusing. I also love Twin Peaks. I would've never thought this would exist out there.

This helps me sleep at night; it is so relaxing.

This is a masterpiece! It helps me to do everything! When I create my animation Enigmatic Forest it gives me endless inspiration!

I keep coming back to this when I need to work. I can leave it on for hours without realising, but when it's not there I feel something is missing. It's the perfect balance of being present yet not intrusive.

I changed the settings on "Twin Black Lodges" so it sounds like such a cave ambiance and it helps me focus. I usually put it on while I'm playing video games, especially Minecraft Dungeons (Ironic right? It really does feel as though it'd fit into the game) and it's been so nice to be able to listen too. The vibe is absolutely perfect!

I love so many of the tracks on here! Lately I've been playing Twin Black Lodges and Black Hole together with my custom settings and the combination is so soothing. They really help me focus on writing when there are other distracting sounds around me.

Probably the single best noise on this site, and best truly background noise generator on the internet. Just haven't found anything better for study yet.

Unimaginable to see a negative testimony. myNoise offers such a purely spiritual joy - the noise and the associated healing. Once again I am discovering my mind and emotions with my noise. We've known each other for 7 years now.

I tried the Meditation Room using this generator in D#, and it was great! I felt that I could close my eyes "deeper" than normal. Also, Stéphane, let me just say that your voice is beautiful and melds greatly with the meditation. Delightful.

If the Upside Down in Stranger Things had a soundtrack, this would be it.

Just the most beautiful calming background soundtrack in existence!

It’s like I am in Stranger Things and I love it.

Listening to this makes me feel like I'm in my very own 80s/90s mystery or adventure tv show, love it <3

I've been frequently listening to the thunder and rain sounds on this website but this one caught me by surprise. Now, I combine this with the tropical rain to give me the perfect ambience. I don't see this as eerie and creepy, but instead relaxing and calming.

Want to have an eerie feeling, this creeps me out, like really creepy.

Love it, except for the transients; Makes it sound like my speakers are blown. I wish you could remove a channel while still animating the REST of the sliders automatically. [Editor’s note: you can! Set the slider to zero before animating]

This website helps me clam down when I have anxiety. Often, things that are meant to calm you down are cliche or too simple and end up pulling you out of it. My anxiety is caused by my tendency to overthink, this website gives my mind just the perfect amount of stimulation to keep it occupied and calm, without overwhelming me at all.

Because of myNoise's amazing customisation features, I've been able to tweak Twin Black Lodges to be my perfect background noise masker and focus aid. Rain noises used to be my go-to but after a short time they start to get on my nerves. This I can listen to for hours without it being in any way distracting. Just very soothing.

It is my new favourite on the site. It gives you that eerie feeling of being watched on the mist without being spooky. I feel the urge to rerun Twin Peaks.

Super trippy to read with and do work, I love it.

Absolutely love this on the slider animation mixed with Guitar Mashup also on slider animation. It is a sort of Pink Floyd-esque psychedelic rock journey.

A friend of mine shared the link, and I, a night creature with some falling asleep troubles, tried it to calm the brain down. Played with Northern Lights, looks like it helps :) Consider this message as an additional hug, transmitted through space and time.

One of the many reasons might be my favorite website on the internet is simply that the quality is just impeccable and there's literally nothing like it. These synths and impressive textures from real recordings, the processing, the AA movie industry-standard level of mixing and mastering of the sounds is always what I try to achieve (but can not achieve thus far) whenever I do music.

Not all the generators on myNoise sound well together. This paired with the Neuromodulator on the "Sci-fi" preset sounds a bit nightmareish. It caused sad nightmares after listening to it for a while before going to bed.

I find that this is a wonderful piece of music to listen to while you work.

This is really a wonderful piece of noise! Combined with Phrygian Universe makes it even better, excellent for long study sessions.

I've been writing some little novelettes based on horror games and this provides the perfect atmosphere.

Feels like your on the journey of death and you get lost in the mystic woods and you hear a faint deep bass drum hitting in the distance you follow it only to find that you have completed the journey all along and you were guiding yourself.

Connect this with Twin Black lodges and Tropical rain for a truly hauntingly beautiful chill.

  Perfect for reading mystery plays.

Tried listening it with Black Hole. And I can bet that's the most mysterious and the most heavenly sound ever. You must try.

Paired with Gregorian voices gives it an eerie feel, and instead of feeling the presence, you can hear it. Amazing.

So calming and creepy at the same time.

Definitely one of my favorite. I have synesthesia and I can only describe this sound as blue. A deep, rich, varied blue. Adds a strange yet calming atmosphere to any reading session :)

This atmosphere helps me really get into a meditation zone... it almost feels like I'm listening to another reality.

I really want to play this for days. It’s like walking through the void.

"I would like a shower of warm light to fall from me, transfiguring the entire world, an ecstatic burst of light preserving the calm of luminous eternity. In the concentrations of ecstasy, it would be all graceful lightness and smiling warmth. The entire world should float in this dream of light, in this transparent and unreal state of delight. Then let me live of light in such a landscape."

I used to play this in the back when I was preparing for the exam last year and inspired me. I am currently preparing for the same exam at the same table a year later, with the same music. It inspired me last year. Hoping the same for this year, I opened today.

For when you look up at the night sky and dream of other planets and space.

Waiting in a transport ship on your way to the inner galactic core. The cabin is dark with dim magenta lights, and you watch the nebulas drift by as you pass into peaceful dreams.

  It almost sounds sad.

I made it sound like it's the apocalypse and that you are the only one in the world.

This sounds insane an octave down.

As you look around you, the tree branches bend and twist slightly. The soft breeze blowing in as you inhale. This place used to be full of so many people, now it's abandoned. Left to rot. The only thing remaining is the ghostly noises that fill around you. Filled with what was once joy, now sadness.

This takes me right back to Silent Hill 2. Mystical, calming, mournful... Really glad I clicked on this generator. I never know what beauty I'm going to stumble onto next <3

I keep returning to this page again and again. Love all myNoise generators, but this one leaves me speechless all the time.

As someone who loves Twin Peaks to death, this captures the vibe of the show so well. It's so relaxing, yet eerie and it makes me feel nostalgic. Highly recommended!

Just, yes eriee and calming at the same time.

When I listen to the Haunting preset, it feels like I'm playing Resident Evil for some reason. It puts me on edge and allows me to focus better on my work. Amazing sounds.

This, paired with some deep sounds from the Black Hole and Now loading are perfect for really anything. It sounds so mystical.

I love using this to study and/or sleep. It's awesome and it really helps me focus.

When I see this, it reveals a story on it's own. With the certain mix I have on it is as if I am seeing a journey through death. Someone has lost their way on their journey to the after life, and they are now trapped in a void filled with other people's memories. As they continue, their spirit slowly decays as it loses hope. They open their eyes to find a panicked person above them. It's too late.

I feel like I'm in a dream! As soon as I turn on myNoise I immediately calm down and relax! I can focus in school and because of that I now have better grades! Thank you myNoise!

This one is perfect if you don't want to focus on anything going on besides what you want to do. I love this one because it gives me background noise to work on assignments and other stuff. It's PERFECT for me.

I just discovered the "tape speed" controls. Turned WAY down, this is haunting and low and lovely. It's a great drone for focusing on creative work.

This is so beautiful and relaxing! It gives my brain something to think about while I focus on my work.

So relaxing! I love the random hits and deep boings :)

Pair this with Primeval Forest to imagine studying amidst nature in a timeline where humans never evolved.

By far the best generator on this site for helping me focus; I owe my degree to Twin Black Lodges! I can't listen to it now without picturing myself in the library. Love having it on animation mode.

I paired this with Osmosis and it was so soothing. Love it.

Such a beautiful ambience and it really inspires me to draw and write scripts for my comics with no distractions or stress.

Feels like a sunny Stockholm evening.

This is a lot of fun when used to make my music sound like I'm listening to an old record!! Turn the transients all the way up and everything else off--then just add your favorite music playing on another tab or app.

This one is great; I love the animated version, but don't really care for the transients. Makes me think something's wrong with my speakers.

Great for focusing. I use it with Black Hole.

Amazing sounds which I always use while working. These sounds definitely help you in a lot of ways you might have never thought of! It's fascinating how someone could come up with something so calming. Truly the best website.

How wonderful. This has the spirit of the series in it, no doubt.

One of my school tasks was to find an image of a tractor and draw it out in detail. I thought I needed something to listen to whilst I do it since drawing sometimes stresses me out and I have been so calm since, thank you myNoise!

  Very good for school work.

I use this to sleep each night, I've been sleeping like a log since I first used this.

I listen to this while I read and it helps my very loud brain quiet down. Goes very well with All New Wolverine (2016)

This makes me feel so at peace, especially when I played with the sliders and found my perfect combination.

Have I found a purpose in life yet? Yes I have. This is my purpose. This track is amazing when mixed with 88 keys (which is amazing alone too), Take It Easy, Twilight, and a quiet Stardust in the background.

I feel that if you are looking for a relaxing sound, then you will love this.

There's something about this mix that stills my breath and raises my hair on end, but not from being unsettled -- from wonder and awe.

I've been supporting for a few years now. This soundscape has been my go-to for the past year or so now. Love it!

Wow! So calming! I was asleep in just a few minutes, and usually it takes me HOURS to get to sleep. Such a calming, relaxing and magical piece of music.

These soundscapes - and this one especially - are so excellently immersive, that, as I write, I can really picture the different worlds my imagination can take me to. Very much more imagination-enhancing and distraction-reducing than the other music I listen to, these Soundscapes really help me create and tell the stories that I need to tell. Thank you, myNoise!

Makes me feel a sense of melancholy & peace, I love it :)

I came upon this site when searching for some rain on a tent ambiance to write my story to, and I got much more than anticipated! I find that this mixed with Rain on a Tent is one of the most soothing sounds I can think of. It reminds me of laying awake on a rainy night while camping under the stars, hearing a few noises, but mostly feeling the weight of time and space as you drift off.

It helps a lot when you are tired of the same old music being played on your playlist. It helps to keep me calm when I'm overwhelmed, as the peaceful chaos uplifts me.

It is perfect to study or calming if you turn up volume.

Beautiful generator and an apt tribute to one of the best shows in TV history. This is my favorite generator since Anamnesis. How did it not get an "eerie" icon, however? It's nothing if not a wistful sort of eerie.

What an ethereal feeling this provides... It helps greatly to detatch from earthly worries and desires, for {Me}. Perhaps it could work for {You}, too...

Somewhere between a whale song, creepy horror movie music, and a lullaby. Sounds weird, but it's super soothing and helps me concentrate.

This mix has been perfect for getting work done, and it's a bonus because any source of music is blocked at my work and this is something other than the sound of rain or nature. This is a great one!

This is a magnificient drony thing! I see (that is, I hear) more and more musical noises here, all harmonic, all well crafted. Thanks a lot!

Sadness and doubt are resonating within you. At least that's what this mix reminds me of. Hopelessness, like a one choice option, and you've already given up.

It's like an unsettling kind of easiness. Hard to explain. But it's definitely good for writing my dystopian novel.

Amazing! Especially when paired with the Anamnesis voices!

Another Twin Peaks fan here to say that this is a wonderful soundscape. I really love the crackling as well, very true to the show. E-lec-tri-ci-ty!

I really love it before sleeptime. What I don't like are high frequency noises. So I disabled them nearly entirely.

Hi, the "Transient" slider in Twin Black Lodges creates lots of crackling sound, while no others do. Is it deliberate? [Yes]

With this preset, it's like I'm walking through a forest and discovering wonders at every step. Each sight opens up new worlds for me. The sounds are beautiful in how they can be in the background and help you work, yet also steal the show when you decide only to listen to them.

Having just the low sounds playing feels very smooth and calming, with just a hint of good negative emotion.

I've been using the cafe sound for ages and decided to look for something new. I saw the name "Twin Black Lodges" and clicked straight away, hoping it would be Twin Peaks related. Boy was I excited to find out that my hopes had been confirmed! This is a beautiful, haunting soundscape. I can't wait to show this to my fellow Twin Peaks fans.

Perfect elation! I usually write characters or scenarii for RPG listening this one.

I love putting on Black Lodges and Black Hole while listening to true crime podcasts - it offers the perfect unsettling backdrop to mystery stories!

Magic peaceful sound, I like it ! Good for thinking, relaxing and dreaming.

I don't know why but this soothes me so much!

I am a spiritual director and mentor in spiritual practices, including silence and meditation. I play Twin Black Lodges as clients begin their sittings with me. This along with a simple flickering candle creates just the right setting for deep soul work. Personally, I like the other comments here about how these sounds evoke death. I can't get enough of these sounds. Thank you.

So beautiful. I have never heard anything like it. I want to play it forever.

The minimal setting is/must be what death is about... the timelessness... the peace. How sweet it is. Becoming one with the ether. Listening to sounds and manifestations that are not from this world.

Love this! I play it with 88 keys and Irish Coast and it's so peaceful.

I like the calming and immersive effect of this soundscape, it could be in a soundtrack or album.

Fantastic sound design by Torley, I could listen to it 24/7.

I love this setting the most, very mysterious. It's best mixed with Black Hole <3

  So peaceful and relaxing!

Given my ADHD, I have a terrible time trying to focus most days. But putting this on in combination with the Black Hole soundscape (with the distant explosions + shimmer tones cranked up and the pad and hum bars just lifted ever so slightly) gets me into a perfect zen focus state; and in the perfect mood to write.

Loving this with Unreal Ocean both set to animation and binaural harmonics set to focussed. It made me super focussed and drowned out all the bustle around me marvelously.

I feel like these are the right settings for me.

Makes me feel like I'm playing a puzzle game set in a mysterious forest.

Nicely done! Lots of Vangelis like textures.

This must be what death feels like on the other side... And I mean in the sense that this is what I want and hope death to feel! The utter calm and transcendence to it all. The complete abscence of fear and perfect peace! Love every minute of it!!!

This is incredibly haunting combined with Black Hole. Love it <3

Together with Gregorian chants, this'll haunt my dreams... In a good way.

This is one of my go-to soundscapes when trying to focus at work. I love the ebb and flow of the music, the notes are haunting and iridescent, and keep your mind still. I often pair it with Deep Ocean as the bubbling waters complement this generator well.

Something about this is like the perfect balance for sleeping. The best way I can describe it is curling up under a tree in a quiet forest to sleep on a hot summer night. You can hear the tones in the distance that hint at isolation, but it isn't cold and unwelcoming, so it's safe to fall asleep.

Paired with '88 Keys' and 'Black Hole,' this makes me feel like I am drifting peacefully. Great for calming down. Twin Peaks <3

Feels like everything around me is moving in slow motion. It also has an amazing depth to it, with the echoing sounds in the background.

It's so spoopy! I love it! This, paired with Black Hole (one of my favorites) as they're supposed to be paired, is majestic. So incredibly amazing.

This is one of the ones I keep coming back to during work. I work in a call center but I work mostly with emails. This really helps me drown others out while I have to write back technical responses.

I am amazed at how good all your content is. Amazing. So relaxing. It's a must have for everyone.

Is 'Transient' the official word for that sound? I've been desperately searching for it since discovering Mum late 2011 (Mum, a LOVELY Icelandic group one would benefit greatly from looking into).

I use this soundscape with Polar Expedition to work. The places it takes me are wonderful. You've done a great job with this piece.

Wow every slider preset brings out a totally different character. Amazing work.

This is, excuse me, a damn fine soundscape generator.

This is by far my favourite soundscape of this site. I tend to get jittery and impatient if I'm trying to study in complete silence. Soft tunes like these help me focus without being too distracting.

It's so interesting how simply lowering the original tuning by an octave gives me an entirely separate feeling. I tried sharing this with someone else and I guess they think it's a freaky tune, but I love lower frequencies like these.

The sensation of synthetic skin on organic, the strangely unsure feeling of nails softly scraping your back. Is it real, or just an illusion made by these artificial nerves? An electric current somewhere, crackling in your body, making the joints clack at the slightest movement. It gives of such a soothing yet sleepless vibe...

Layers really well with 88 Keys for a dreamier, more lifted feel. Love Twin Peaks and this generator!

Love it! Especially when combined with Distant Thunder.

This is the best thing to do schoolwork to! I'm usually a huge fan of listening to music or something more melodic when I work, but I kept finding lyrics and familiar soundtracks too distracting. This is my favorite sound setting, because it has elements of white noise, while also setting a very particular mood with some melody, which really helps me focus! So glad that I found this one!

This is my new favorite. Everything about it. It's JUST RIGHT. Thank you so much!

Oh my gosh. I am a huge Twin Peaks fan and this soundscape is absolutely amazing! It totally captures the vibe of the environment. Definitely gonna use this one for studying.

  Awesome. Thanks.

This one is exactly what I've been looking for: something to put me in a calm and slightly somber mood. This is how it feels to be content and alone on a perfectly cold and starry night.

Great for the late shift in the office, it keeps me relaxed, but not sleepy.

This has become my favourite background noise for reading.

I really like this one! I hope he tries the X-Files soon.

I haven't had such a visceral reaction to a soundscape since I played Myst and Riven. This has to be one of the most stirring and emotionally resonating things I've ever heard. Something about this feels enchanting yet there's an immense gravity that elicits a somber realization of something great and powerful. Bravo.

It floats past. A thought, a sound, a recollection not noticed. Blended to engage and disengage in equal measure. Neither too little, nor too much. Time bends, and shifts. Your focus becomes your own again. Your thoughts are placed where you will them to be. Now you float forward towards completion of your task.

"Through the darkness of future's past, the magician longs to see. One chants out between two worlds: Fire walk with me"

Tibetan Choir and Twin Black Lodges together is a euphoric trip to the Lodge....

So spooky, mysterious, hunting and sinister... Yet I can't stop listening to it! :O

Though I know we'll all pass on, and that I'll be among the very few, estranged souls to remember in the next world, I smile as I collect bittersweet memories in this world. I'll be able to watch my friends grow up yet again, a multiversal spiral of rebirth that has stubbornly refused to end. By the grace of the Fallen are they born anew, and my gratitude runs unfathomably deep.

Has a sense of mystery and longing for something lost. I just love the soothing background and the general ambiance; probably my favorite generator, so far. ^^ Great for clearing my mind and helping me relax as I work on art; been listening to this one for about an hour or so, and I don't see myself turning it off anytime soon.

This feels like a mixture of serenity, mystery, spookyness, in a way that creates a calm, but slightly melancholy atmosphere. Perfect for horror/dark fantasy gaming, reading, or for creative inspiration for peple who prefer a darker setting.

Such a serenely beautiful sound, yet one which conceals a deep well of sadness beneath. A plaintive cry echoing through the mist in an old, forgotten place...

I'm by no means an emotional person, but this brings so much wonder and peace that I want to cry.

Mystical, calm, this is one of my top favorites now.

So intriguingly creepy! It tells a story on its own, even without words.

This generator helps me whenever the voices try to manipulate me... Go away... go away!

This haunting generator will enhance any soundscape the imagination can create. An outstanding piece of noise craftsmanship.

Everytime I think there can't be more masterpieces, there's another one released. Thank you so much for giving me such a variety of melodies to chase in my dreams at night.

This generator is hauntingly beautiful. It does a great job of focusing my efforts on my work. The somber ambiance of this generator mixes well with other emotional generators: try Canyon or Mournful Chimes.

Exactly what I needed for the six day wait until the release. And I'm the first comment! Wonderful generator that I'll pair with a night forest and use as background when I do prewriting for some scary Americana stories. Thank you!
